Check loaded fit before deciding
Saddleback lists a depth of 0.5 inches, approximately 12.7 mm. Bellroy lists 13 mm. These are manufacturer dimensions, without a shared loading protocol. They do not tell us how either wallet will feel in a front pocket.
Count your regular cards and include any thick access cards or receipts. If trying a wallet in person, check whether you can remove and replace a card easily, whether the fold closes comfortably and whether the filled wallet suits your pocket. Check return conditions before loading a purchase at home.
Bellroy LO is intended for notes under 74 mm tall, including US dollars. For taller notes, compare the HI version and its own dimensions. This page does not apply the LO specification to every Hide & Seek.

What the construction tells you
Saddleback identifies full-grain leather, pigskin lining and polyester thread. Bellroy gives a leather and recycled-polyester composition. Those descriptions let you compare materials, but they do not establish a measured durability ranking.
Inspect the lining, high-contact slot edges and fold as well as the outside. Both makers exclude ordinary wear from warranty cover. If a seam opens, ask whether the surrounding material will support a repair and whether the original wallet can be retained.
What repair and warranty support actually covers
Keep your receipt and send photographs before posting a damaged wallet. Ask whether the proposed remedy is restitching, another repair, replacement or credit, and whether you can retain the original item.

100 years for defective materials or workmanship. Normal wear, misuse, abuse, accidents and irreversible modifications are excluded.
The stated remedy is repair, then replacement or store credit if repair is not possible. Ask about wallet-specific repair options, charges and shipping before sending it.
The policy discusses descendants, but does not clearly establish all secondhand purchase or receipt requirements. Confirm these if buying used.
Bellroy Hide & Seek LO
Three years for faults in materials and workmanship under normal use. Expected wear, aging, neglect and unreasonable use are excluded. Bellroy specifically identifies overpacking that strains the stitching.
Contact support with order details, photographs and the problem. A wallet restitching service or fixed paid-repair price was not established; its luggage repair programme is separate.

What owner reports help us check
The accounts below were reviewed on 2026-09-17. They are individual, unverified reports about older wallets. They help identify inspection points; they do not establish failure rates or the lifespan of today’s versions.
Bellroy: appearance and card retention
In a Hide & Seek thread, the original poster reports satisfaction after five years. A commenter reports replacing theirs after about three to four years because stretched slots allowed cards to fall out, despite the wallet looking fine. The lesson is to inspect retention as well as appearance.
Saddleback: ask what happens to an older model
An owner reported an ID-window tear after eight years and said Saddleback offered an updated model. This concerns an older ID-window wallet, not the current Medium Bifold. It illustrates why you should ask whether a claim will produce a repair or a different version.
Questions before you buy
Does Saddleback lack the RFID protection Bellroy offers?
No. The current Saddleback Medium Bifold 01-40-0029 and the selected Bellroy Hide & Seek leather/RFID variant both list blocking. We have not independently tested either implementation.
Is Bellroy definitely thinner in a front pocket?
We have not measured both wallets with matching contents. Saddleback lists 0.5 inches of depth, and Bellroy lists 13 mm; those nominal figures do not establish loaded thickness or pocket comfort. Compare with your usual cards, notes and pocket.
Which warranty is better?
Saddleback offers a much longer defect-coverage term and describes repair as the first remedy. Bellroy has three-year wallet coverage and requires proof of purchase. Both exclude ordinary wear. Confirm eligibility, postage and the proposed remedy for your actual issue.
Will all currencies fit the Hide & Seek LO?
No. Bellroy recommends LO for notes under 74 mm tall, including US dollars. Use the appropriate HI version for taller currencies rather than forcing them into the smaller size.
