Check which version the budget buys
The $145 Ashland reference is Johnny the Fox in English Tan Dublin, not shell cordovan and not every model from the maker. Popov’s $139 reference is the selected Heritage Brown 5-Card version. Personalisation, other leathers or different versions can change the total.
At $145, Ashland has only $5 below the ceiling before shipping and tax. If $150 is your total budget, confirm the delivered price. The $89 Saddleback may leave useful room without giving up the bill compartment you need.
What the extra spending does—and does not—establish
Popov specifies hand saddle stitching and a small folded format. Ashland names the tannery and leather, gives a note-size limit and provides more separate card slots. Those are concrete reasons to compare the upgrades.
They are not measurements of extra years of service. Ask how a worn slot, failed seam or damaged lining would be handled, and read the eligibility limits below. Keep a functional wallet if the new model does not solve a problem for you.
What repair and warranty support actually covers
Keep your receipt and send photographs before posting a damaged wallet. Ask whether the proposed remedy is restitching, another repair, replacement or credit, and whether you can retain the original item.
